Are We There Yet? Words and music by Randy Peterson

Riding in my car with my family

we’re going on vacation. We’ve got some sights to see.

My kids are in the back seat. They’re playing quietly.

They say, "Dad, we have a question."

I say, "Hmmm... What can it be"?

And they say...

Are we there yet? (Nope!) Are we there yet? (Not yet!)

How much longer will it take? (Just a little longer.)

Are we there yet? (No.)

Are we there yet? (Not yet.)

Stop the car I think we need a break!

Well I say, kids, you must be joking. We’ve only just begun.

Why don’t you read a book? A game or puzzle might be fun!

And for a little while, my plan works like a charm.

But here it comes again, sounding like a fire alarm...

Are we there yet? (No!)

Are we there yet? (Not yet!)

How much longer will it take? (Just a little longer!)

Are we there yet? (NO!)

Are we there yet? (NOT YET!)

Stop the car I think we need a break! (And so do I!)

Every parent dreads it. Every kid knows how it goes.

It doesn’t help to cross your fingers. It won’t help to cross your toes.

"We’re gonna say it anyway, no matter what you do".

So moms and Dads, I have a plan I’d like to share with you...

Just remember when you were a kid, how a long ride felt to you...

And, then every fifteen miles or so, you can join in too...

Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?

How much longer will it take?

Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?

Stop the car I think we need a break!

Oh, stop the car I think we need a break!
