They Growl and They Grumble Words and Music by Randy Peterson Deep in the jungle where all the animals play. What’s that sound we’re hearing there today? Animals are gathering from all around to sing a song with a jungle sound. But what’s up with that melody? It sounds like noise to me! They growl and they grumble and they rumble and roar, and howl up at the moon. But they don’t get along when they sing that song. It’s not a very happy tune. One by one they sing that animal song, but they don’t want other animals to sing along. Each one thinks he sings it best. Each one thinks he’s better than the rest. They argue ' till the dark of night. And they all think they’re right! Chorus I hear the monkeys say, "Ooh, ha, ha, ooh, ha". I hear the lions say, "Roar"! Some sing soft and some sing loud. They all take a turn and then they all act proud. I hear the birds say, "Caw, caw"! I hear the bugs say, "Bzz, bzz, bzz, bzz". Each one thinks he sings it best. Each one thinks he’s better than the rest. They argue ‘till the dark of night. And they all think they’re right! Chorus One night they got together animals big and small, to find who sang that song the best of all. But who goes first? They couldn’t decide. The birds in the flock or the lions in the pride? They all started singing at the very same time and that music sounded fine! La, la, la... From that night on they sang in harmony. The bass in the bushes sang with tenors in the trees. They all agreed it sounded pretty good. When they all sang together it sounded like it should. Now that noise has become a song and they all get along. They still growl and they grumble and they rumble and roar, and howl up at the moon. But they all get along when they sing that song. Together it’s a happy tune. La, la, la...
